Discover the joy of connecting with horses. Improve your horse/human relationships. Begin to develop your intuitive, relational, and emotional intelligence skills. This 2-day experiential program is based on the work of Linda Kohanov, horse trainer, lecturer, and author of The Tao Of Equus, Riding Between The Worlds, Way Of The Horse, and The Power Of The Herd (to be published in the Fall of 2012). Participants will explore the fundamentals of the Epona Approach™ (www.eponaquest.com) to equine facilitated learning via a series of informal lectures and non-riding experiential activities, learning how to:

  • Use emotion as information
  • Access a more authentic, intuitive presence
  • Recognize and move beyond conditioned behaviors and thought patterns
  • Establish and maintain clear and consistent personal space/boundaries
  • Use the body as a sensing device (body scan)
  • Develop essential skills for building Authentic Community

This experience is appropriate for emotionally secure individuals who are seriously interested in exploring the transformational potential of human-horse interactions. No prior equine experience is necessary. Horses will be provided. All activities with the horses are ground-based, in an enclosed arena or round pen; there is no riding. No auditors are permitted.

Enrollment is limited to 6 participants. The fee is $535.00 per person. The fee includes lunch, bottled water, snacks and all materials. Full payment is due at least 15 days in advance of the workshop date. Hours are 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM daily, with a one-hour break for lunch.

Completing this workshop fulfills the course prerequisite requirement for anyone wishing to do advanced workshops with Linda Kohanov at her ranch in Amado, AZ and/or attend advanced workshops led by members of her Senior Faculty.

It's now commonly recognized that only 10 percent of human communication is verbal. The other 90 percent is non-verbal, contained in the neurological-based "brains" in our gut and heart, those intuitive "first responders" to all human experience whose messages most of us have been taught to patently ignore or disregard. It's only when we align our three centers of emotional intelligence - the head (neocortex), the heart, and the gut (intuition) - as one, that we realize our fullest potential as humans.

Based on Linda Kohanov's book-in-progress, The Power of the Herd: Building Social Intelligence, Visionary Leadership, and Authentic Community through the Way of the Horse, participants in this 3-day workshop will explore the non-predatory wisdom of the horse as a paradigm for accessing their own socio-emotional intelligence, leading to personal empowerment and transformation. The particular focus of this program will be on helping participants create a more intuitive and authentic - or conscious - leadership style through reflective and active experiential activities with equines. Included will be the tools, concepts, and techniques that comprise the Epona Approach™ to equine facilitated learning.

This experience is only appropriate for emotionally secure individuals who are seriously interested in exploring the transformational potential of human-horse interactions. Participants are asked to read at least one of Linda Kohanov's books and several chapters of The Power Of The Herd as a prerequisite to participating.

All equine experiential activities are ground-based, in an enclosed arena or round pen. There's no riding, and no prior equine experience is needed. No auditors are permitted.

Enrollment is limited to 10 participants. The fee is $600.00 per person. The fee includes lunch, bottled water, snacks and all materials. Full payment is due at least 15 days in advance of the workshop start date. Hours are 6-9 pm on the first day, and 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM on the subsequent dates, with a one-hour break for lunch.

Completing this workshop fulfills the course prerequisite requirement for anyone wishing to do advanced workshop with Linda Kohanov in Amado, AZ and/or attend advanced workshops led by members of her Senior Faculty.
